The West Bend Theatre Company and The Bend, West Bend’s downtown performance venue, are excited to announce a partnership fundraising campaign this holiday season. The proceeds will go toward the purchase of a new lighting control board for The Bend.

The campaign is called “Bring Up The Lights.”

“We are excited to partner with Jeff Potts (executive director at The Bend) and The Bend to raise money for this important campaign,” said Nicholas Dettmann, West Bend Theatre Company board member. “After our performance of ‘An Act of God’ at The Bend, the venue received great reviews and we are eager to help The Bend continue to grow as a go-to performance destination not only in Washington County, but the state of Wisconsin.”

Currently at The Bend, its lighting control board has limited functions, which would complicate future performances of both live theater and live concerts. Having a lighting control board will take The Bend to another level in its ability to host live events.

“We invested so much in our cinema and concert technology, but we didn’t get everything we needed for theatrical performances,” Potts said. “This extra piece of equipment will help take those events to the next level. This is a great example of how to foster partnerships within our creative community. It will help both organizations achieve their mission while maximizing the experience for our audiences.”

As many supporters of the West Bend Theatre Company know, the organization partners with a local nonprofit agency with each show during a performance season. Unfortunately with the cancelation of “A Christmas Carol” in 2020, the West Bend Theatre Company and its board of directors decided this was a perfect opportunity to maintain a great local partnership, but keep true to the company’s mission which is “… to celebrate, enhance, and inspire by producing excellent theatre and by giving back to our community.”

To help jumpstart the campaign, the West Bend Theatre Company will donate $500 to the “Bring Up The Lights” campaign.
